"BEDDING EXPERTS DREAM GIG" CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES
CONTEST DATES:
The contest begins on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 12:01 a.m. CST. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, February 22, 2009.
SUMMARY OF THE CONTEST:
Following these Official Rules, the entrant must create and submit a video recording of The Bedding Experts’ jingle, “The Bedding Experts, where dreams come true,” as performed by the entrant’s son or daughter, age 18 or younger. Entries will be judged by the Sponsors and 20 finalists will be selected. The 20 finalists’ entries will be posted online for voting by the public. The next three eligible entries receiving the most votes will be declared the winner of the Grand Prize. The eligible entries receiving the most votes will be declared winners of the Runner-up Prize. Details follow.
ELIGIBILITY:
To enter, you must be the parent or legal guardian of the person performing in the video, and a U.S. citizen. The person performing in the video must be age 18 or younger as of March 18, 2009. The entrant who submits the video must be 18 or older and a legal resident of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lake, McHenry or Will Counties in Illinois, or Jasper, LaPorte, Lake, Newton or Porter Counties in Indiana. If the entrant or a member of his/her household has won a prize worth more than $600 from WGN Radio since March 18, 2007, the entrant is ineligible to enter or win, and any entry submitted will be disqualified. If the entrant has won a prize from WGN-TV since September 17, 2008, the entrant is ineligible to enter or win, and any entry submitted will be disqualified. Employees and their immediate family members of WGN-TV, WGN Radio, CLTV, the Chicago Tribune and The Bedding Experts, and those of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising/promotion agencies, are not eligible to enter or win.
HOW TO ENTER:
There are two ways to enter – (1) electronically, by uploading the video entry in digital form, or (2) by mailing the recording of the video entry to the contest. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on Sunday, February 22, 2009. You can submit multiple (non-duplicate) entries, and can enter both online and by mail. All entries become the property of the Sponsors, and will not be returned. The Sponsors will not be responsible for lost, incomplete, damaged, illegible, late, delayed or misdirected entries, entries which cannot be viewed on a commonly available computer video player or videotape/DVD playback equipment used in the United States, or for errors in mechanical transmission, technical or wireless difficulties or inability to transmit Internet or text entries.
For electronic entry: Log on to chicagotribune.com/beddingexpertsdreamgig, complete the registration form and follow the instructions for uploading your video entry.
For entry by mail: Send the entry on videotape or DVD to DREAM GIG, CLTV, 2000 York Road, Suite 114, Oak Brook, IL 60523. Entries must be sent by U.S. Mail or a commercial delivery service such as FedEx or UPS. Entries may not be dropped off in person. The entrant must enclose with the video a piece of paper containing the following information: Entrant’s name, home address, daytime phone number, e-mail address (if any), the child (performer)’s name, the title of the video entry and a brief description of the video entry.
ENTRIES AND SELECTION OF FINALISTS:
Entrants are urged to use creativity and originality in producing their video entries. Dancing, singing, acting, humor and other dramatic devices may be used in performing the jingle, as well as props and costumes, but they are not required. The video entry must be 10 to 60 seconds in duration. All entries received by the deadline will be reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the Sponsors. The judges will review the entries for originality and creativity and appropriateness of the performance to the jingle. The judges will select 20 finalists, subject to eligibility verification. Entries deemed offensive or not in good taste by the judges will be disqualified. The 20 finalists will not be contacted individually. No more than one video will be selected per household.
POSTING OF FINALISTS’ ENTRIES AND ONLINE VOTING:
The 20 finalists’ video entries will be posted to the Video Gallery on chicagotribune.com/beddingexpertsdreamgig for online voting by the public from 9 a.m. CST on Monday, March 2, 2009 until 5:00 p.m. CST on Friday, March 6, 2009. Limit one vote per day per e-mail address.
SELECTION OF WINNERS AND PRIZES:
The finalist whose entry receives the most votes will be declared the Grand Prize winner, subject to eligibility verification. The Grand Prize consists of a $2,500 U.S. Savings Bond (approximate value $1,250), and the child (performer) in the Grand Prize video will be offered the opportunity to appear in a radio and a television commercial for The Bedding Experts. The three finalists whose entries receive the second-highest, third-highest and fourth-highest numbers of votes will be declared Second Prize winners, subject to eligibility verification. The Second Prize consists of a personal computer (approximate value $700-$825). In case of a tie, the panel of judges will select between the tied entries based on the criteria used to select the finalists. Winners will be notified by telephone and U.S. Mail on or about March 18, 2009.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
(a) By entering, each entrant grants permission, without compensation, to the Sponsors and The Bedding Experts, their agents and licensees, to use the entrant's name, voice, photograph, likeness, biographical material and the contents of each video entry submitted, for promotional purposes in connection with the contest. Each entrant also represents and warrants to the Sponsors, The Bedding Experts and the other parties referred to above that the child (performer) appearing in the video entry consents to use of his or her name, voice, photograph, likeness, biographical material and the contents of the video entry, for promotional purposes in connection with the contest.
(b) By entering, each entrant agrees that if selected as a winner, the entrant, on his or her own behalf and on behalf of the child (performer) depicted in the video, will sign a release and waiver of liability. The prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to another entrant if the winner does not execute the prepared form of release and waiver within three days after being notified, or if the selected winner is not eligible in accordance with these rules.
(c) By entering, entrants agree, on their own behalf and on behalf of the child (performer) depicted in the video, to release the Sponsors, The Bedding Experts and the other parties referred to above from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from their participation in the contest or their receipt or use of any contest prize.
INTERNET / FORCE MAJEURE:
If, for any reason, this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, the Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the contest or any portion of the contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. Information submitted with entries, including the entrant's name, address, e-mail address, etc,, become the property of the Sponsors and may be used by them for marketing and promotional purposes.
MISCELLANEOUS:
(a) All decisions regarding the administration of this Contest will be made by the Sponsors. Their decisions on all matters and disputes relating to the contest will be final and binding. Entries that do not comply with the Official Rules may be disqualified.
(b) No purchase is necessary to enter or win. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. This contest is governed by Illinois law.
(c) Prizes are not assignable, transferable or redeemable for cash. No substitute prizes are available. If any prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of comparable value.
(d) Federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners, who will receive a 1099 tax form reflecting the value of their prize.

(f) For a list of winners, send a self-addressed envelope to DREAM GIG Contest Winners, CLTV, 2000 York Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523, after March 18, 2009. The request must be received before May 1, 2009.
